UJAMAA (Cooperative Economics) = "To build and maintain our
own stores, shops, and other businesses
and to profit from them together"
How it Benefits you
Making money is like growing a garden. You have to plant seeds in fertile soil. While the parable of the sower (Mark 4) deals with the gospel the basic premise can be applied to success in general. Having the right seed is like having the right product or service. The seed state is its potential “AS A BUSINESS”. If the potential for the business is there then BWS2.0 can help you by providing you with good soil for that seed. That’s our role. We tend to the soil.
Soil needs water and sunlight, nitrogen, and other elements. When you combine your seed with our platform you will be able to reap a strong harvest. If you are not 100% confident about your seed we can, on a case by case basis through our CLIENT SERVICES, help you develop and cultivate your seed and help it reach the highest potential.
There is no secret formula to our soil; only solid fundamental business principles. Business is fundamentally about people and relationships. Before that seed can get off the ground it has to take root and build a framework below the ground. As a member you will be joining a constantly growing network of business owners. Through our BWS2.0 BBBB (Black Better Business Bureau) we can help you with Strategic Networking to find partners, mentors, and benefit from the key relationships BWS2.0 has made with Industry Partners.
As a member you will also have a Premium Listing in our online search engine. Premium accounts mainly help your position against competing companies. Our online search (currently in development) ties into our store and other services to help our consumers find what they’re looking for. In the information age inconvenience is really not an option. So, getting our search onto other black owned websites and advertising it to different distribution channels helps you gain more exposure.
How it Benefits Our Community
One of the key parts of our strategy centers around trust. By using our BWS Exchange Marketplace as a center of commerce it allows us to get involved in the relationships between our black business members and the black consumer. It allows us the opportunity and responsibility to create a system to help re-establish trust.
The Economic Engine is our plan for reinvesting wealth. It allows us a measure of control over who and what organizations are benefited by the revenue being generated at blackwallstreet2.com. We strongly encourage all businesses to be socially responsible and you can do so by supporting the Economic Engine which isn’t only aimed at giving money to Non-profits but also investing money in economic infrastructure, building relations and trade with Africa and other black territories around the world, and building other revenue streams.
Organizations who are able to plug into the Economic Engine are those that can either multiply our financial resources, our membership, or our consumer base. The result is a portfolio that pushes and pulls the wheel until we have a moving economy with a substantial amount of money flowing between black people around the world. This support for our community is not born of hatred for any other community, but love for ourselves and a shared responsibility of those who wish not to be victims, but victors.
What does that mean?
Exclusive Membership - Exclusive Membership to BWS 2.0 basically means that we have a right to deny membership based on a set of criteria. We require black owned (51% or more) business owners. It’s about common ground, not discrimination. In the original Black Wall Street we were forced to do business with each other because we were excluded by prejudice and Jim Crow. The current system in America creates a Corporate Culture based on European culture and only those who can conform to it (and sometimes lose their identity in the process) rise. Black Wall Street 2.0 is a Corporate Culture based on African Culture and Principles.
Organic / Natural Change - Organic change is change that is designed at the “seed” level to blossom into what it will be. There’s no force involved. It’s not about us or our egos trying impose our own will upon our people. Ego mainly wants to be seen. Organic change is what happens after the seed is planted. We nurture it. We cultivate and build a healthy environment around it to stimulate growth but you can’t make something grow. It has to do that itself. At this point black people know what we need to do. That’s not the problem. The problem is that we get in our own way and become our own worst enemies, thinking that we are saviours when we are not. It is up to each and every person to carry the faith of a mustard seed inside of themselves; to realize their own potential.
Client Services - Client Services are designed to provide more personalized support. Being a client means that we will provide not only consultation but actually provide assistance in the weaker areas of your business and direct you to other black professionals who have the knowledge and skills you need to be more competitive. Client Services are not free but costs are mitigated by your membership and, within reason, depending upon the level of effort and financial assistance needed we may offer business deals in exchange for equity.
Strategic Networking - BWS2.0 developed out of relationships that were forged over years with people who were both conscious and business minded. With basic networking we introduce you to our pond and its up to you to find a school of fish to run with. With Strategic Networking we introduce you to our pond and to the fish we think will help you. This involves us knowing enough about you and your business to find qualified matches.
Industry Partners - Simply put BWS2.0 seeks out people and organizations that we determine to be “high level” in any particular industry. We reach out to people who have greater influence in their industry so they can help us help our community. This gives us the ability to award major contracts to those who can help build the infrastructure of an industry.
